I'm fundraising for Seeing Eye Dogs
A warm “hello” to everyone who has found themselves on my profile page.
My name is Bill Watson. I am a visually impaired man whom, in 2018, had triple bypass surgery. This operation took me much longer than expected to get over but during this time I decided to take up wood working with Vision Australia. There, I met Richard who introduced me to tandem bike riding and I found myself becoming increasingly intrigued by the idea of someone who cannot see, riding pushbikes.
After making the decision to get into the sport myself, and after about 12 months of riding, I found that my fitness levels significantly increased.
Then I met Brian, who is my support worker, and we’ve been riding together on my Tandem pushbike now for 12 months. I also met Linda, with whom I started riding with, and has become my second support worker.
In March this year (2020), I was lucky enough to receive a beautiful Seeing Eye Dog named Vanessa. ‘Nessy’, is now my best friend.
I am passionate about giving back to Seeing Eye Dogs Australia, as they have done so much for me. Making an enormous positive change to my life. I have dreamt up the crazy idea of cycling my tandem pushbike from Bundaberg to Redcliffe, from 22nd – 29th May 2021. The trip will take around 400km, running down the Southeast Queensland Coastline. I am hoping to raise at least $10,000 for the Seeing Eye Dogs.
Brian and Linda think this is a good idea too and a worthy challenge, getting me in shape, in time for the ride. Their goal is to see me not expire at the finish line!
I am humbly asking you to please contribute what you can, so this adventure can be successful. I personally would like to thank everyone in advance for their support.
Every Dollar pledged will equal a lot of hard work and sweat!
